MIRAYANTI (E 202 20 015) Study of the Phenology of Physiological Maturity of Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) Storage and Its Recalcitrance Properties (Supervised by Enny Adelina and Sakka Samuddin, 2024). Mangosteen is a plant native to Indonesia and is spread across almost all islands in Indonesia. Apart from being consumed as fresh fruit and drink (juice), mangosteen fruit also has medicinal properties. To support the competitiveness of the mangosteen industry in Indonesia, scientific studies are needed regarding the development of morphology and physiology of mangosteen fruit during growth and ripening to obtain high quality mangosteen fruit that meets standards. This research aims to obtain the best development of fruit maturity, test the recalcitrance of mangosteen seeds and storage methods that can prevent germination while maintaining the viability of the seeds while in storage. This research has been carried out in three stages so there were 3 treatments which repeated nine (9) times, so the number of experimental units was 27 experimental units. Recalcitrance test by calculating water content and germination capacity to determine recalcitrance status. The research setting was in Berdikari Village and Bahagia Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency. Meanwhile, the recalcitrance test and shelf life test were conducted at the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, Palu. The research was conducted was from July to November 2024. The research results revealed that the development of mangosteen flowers into fruit was from 32 DAP to 115 DAP. The results of the mangosteen recalcitrance test showed that the percentage of germination capacity and water content in drying mangosteen seeds decreased after 14 hours of drying. The maturity level of M3 mangosteen fruit gives good results in terms of germination and can be used as seeds. Mangosteen seeds are recalcitrant seeds whose water content and germination capacity decrease by around 50%. There is an interaction effect between PEG concentration and maturity level. M3 maturity level and PEG concentrations P1 and P2 provide better results in 2 to 4 weeks storage of mangosteen seeds.
