| Abstrak Abstract Purpose: This study aims to analyze the maintenance practices of meat grinding machines at CV Solo Indah in Palu City, with a focus on preventive and corrective strategies, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce machine breakdowns. Methodology/Approach: This research at CV Solo Indah in Palu employed a descriptive quantitative approach over three months, utilizing direct observation, structured staff interviews, and documentation. Machine components were analyzed using fishbone diagrams, cost analysis, and efficiency calculations with the formula TC = (F × RI) / (RO × P). Tools included maintenance records, interview guides, and Microsoft Excel. Results/Findings: All major machine components experienced at least one failure in 2024. The gearbox, machine frame, and feeder incurred the highest repair costs. The total maintenance cost was Rp13,674,500, with preventive maintenance accounting for 53.68% and corrective for 46.32%. This shows a balanced and efficient maintenance strategy, categorized as "very efficient" under established benchmarks. Conclusions: CV Solo Indah applies preventive and corrective maintenance effectively, though corrective costs remain high. Emphasizing preventive efforts on costly components like the gearbox can reduce expenses. Fishbone analysis identified root causes in manpower, machine, method, material, environment, and measurement categories. Limitations: This study’s limitation lies in its focus on a single company and a 3-month period, which may not reflect long-term trends or broader industry applicability. Contribution: This research contributes to the field of industrial engineering and operations management, especially in SME-scale meat processing. It offers practical insights for improving machine maintenance systems, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
