Abstrak ABSTRACT Zulham B301 18 003 "Ethnography of the Experience of Being a Child of the Nurul Falah Palu Orphanage". Guided by Ikhtiar Hatta as the main supervisor and Siti Hajar N. Aepu as the accompanying supervisor. The family is the smallest unit in society that plays an important role in the development of children. However, for children living in orphanages, they are faced with the challenge of learning independently and adapting to a new environment. The Nurul Falah Palu Orphanage is a place for children from underprivileged family backgrounds, including orphans, orphans, and children experiencing economic hardship, so it is important to understand their life experiences. This study aims to explore and describe the life experiences of children living in the Nurul Falah Palu Orphanage. This study uses a qualitative approach with a (Life History) approach, to explore the subjective experiences of children through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The results of this study show that children living in the Nurul Falah Orphanage experience various emotional and social challenges, especially at the beginning of their stay. Many of them feel loneliness, loss, and uncertainty when it comes to adapting to a new environment that is much different from their previous lives. As time goes by, they begin to find comfort and a sense of security in the orphanage, thanks to support from caregivers and interaction with peers. Each child has a unique experience that reflects their life journey. Such as: Abdila Afgari Agam, 8 years old, recounted her traumatic experience due to domestic violence that she experienced before entering the orphanage. On the other hand, 10-year-old Tikasya Fani shared about her hopes of becoming a teacher and how she tried hard to learn despite coming from a difficult background. Moh. Galang, who aspires to become a soldier, and Khanza Syibillah Kasiul, who wants to become a police officer. This research highlights the importance of positive social and environmental support in shaping the identity and expectations of children in orphanages. Despite their challenges, these children show positive character development and have strong ideals for the future. Keywords: Orphanage, Children's Life History, Social Support, Ideals |
