| Abstrak This research aims to understand the behavior of adolescents in using Instagram as a social interaction medium, which is done by analyzing the forms and factors of interaction and the resulting impacts. The researchers chose to use a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research results show that Instagram is not only considered a mere communication medium, but also a social space where new values are formed, and where individuals test their identities and positions within society. Positive impacts include helping teenagers expand their social networks, gain access to more information, encourage their ability to learn and create, boost self-confidence, open up business opportunities or economic independence, and provide space for teenagers to become agents of social change. Meanwhile, negative impacts include consumerism, addiction, flexing, social comparison, a tendency to form false identities, and antisocial behavior. Verstehen theory is used to understand the meaning of each social action performed by adolescents when using Instagram, while phenomenology theory helps researchers delve deeper into the subjective experiences of adolescents when interacting thru the platform. |
