Abstrak ABSTRACT Venti Lestari (2013). Improving Student Learning Outcomes through Problem-Based Learning in Social Sciences Subjects in Class V SD Inpres 1 Tondo. Thesis Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Department of Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University.Advisor (I) Rizal, S.Ag.M.Pd The problem in this research is that the application of problem-based learning methods can improve student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class V SD Inpres 1 Tondo. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in grade V SD Inpres 1 Tondo by using problem-based learning methods. This type of research refers to class action carried out in 2 cycles. The research stages include the planning, action, observation and reflection stages. The data obtained in this study included student learning outcomes, teacher and student activity observations taken from teacher activity observation sheets and student activity observation sheets. The results obtained in the pre-action obtained from the initial test were 44% learning completeness and 59.6% classical absorption. After carrying out the first cycle of action, the results of teacher activity observations were obtained with a percentage score of 62.5% and the results of student activity observations with a proportion score of 61.11%. And in the second cycle of action there was an increase in the results of teacher and student activity observations, the results of teacher activity observations reached 92.5% and student activity observations reached 80.56%. In the first cycle of action student learning outcomes, 18 students who completed individually were obtained by 18 out of 25 total students, so that classical learning completeness reached 72% and classical absorption was 65.6%. Furthermore, in cycle II action has increased with classical learning completeness reaching 88% and retention of up to 82.4%, this means that learning in cycle II has met the indicators with a minimum classical learning ability of 65% and classical learning completeness of at least 75?sed on absorption. classical learning and classical learning completeness in learning activities cycle II, it can be concluded that using problem-based learning methods can improve social studies learning outcomes in fifth grade students at SD Inpres 1 Tondo.
