Abstrak
The discussions in this research are: 1) How are the efforts of the teacher in enhancing the learning motivation of grade VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu in the social studies subject? 2) What are the supporting and inhibiting factors for teacher efforts in enhancing the learning motivation of grade VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu in the social studies subject? This research aims to explain the efforts made by social studies teachers and supporting and inhibiting factors in enhancing the learning motivation of grade VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu in the social studies subject? Research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects were social studies teachers and eight students. The techniques of data collection were observation, interviews, and documentation. Then, the collected data were analyzed through three stages, they were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicated that 1) the teacher's efforts in enhancing the learning motivation of grade VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu in the social studies subject were good enough, it is noticed from the results of observations and which show that the teacher has made various efforts to enhance the learning motivation of the students. Such attempts may include providing comprehensive explanations, using varied learning methods, applying learning media, approaching students, giving assignments, and rewarding students who succeed in doing tasks well and on time. 2) the supporting and inhibiting factors of the teacher's efforts in enhancing the learning motivation of grade VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu include internal and external factors, facilities, and infrastructure.
