History Education Study Program, Social Science Education Department, Teacher Training, and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervisor of (1) Nuraedah, (2) Mahfud M. Gamar. The research problems are 1) How do the government select the bidikmisi scholarship recipients at Tadulako University in the year 2016 ?, 2) What is the real academic condition of the 2016 Bidikmisi scholarship recipients?, 3) What are the positive and negative impacts of Bidikmisi scholarships for students' learning continuity in history education study program? The research objectives are to describe 1) the way of government' in selecting Bidikmisi scholarship recipients at Tadulako University in 2016, 2) the real academic conditions of Bidikmisi scholarship recipients in the year 2016, 3) positive and negative impacts of Bidikmisi scholarships for students' continuity in History Education Study Program. It is descriptive qualitative research that collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results showed that two ways of that carried out by the government in selecting Bidikmisi scholarship recipients at Tadulako University are through social media and schools. The Bidikmisi scholarship program is a reference for recipient students from underprivileged families to increase their potential because it is a rare opportunity. The increase in the achievement of Bidikmisi scholarship recipients is indicated by the GPA of each semester. In addition, to measure the academic potential of students, it can be noticed from their activeness in campus activities and also experiences which are not all obtained in lectures. Steadily, the commitments made by students became the spirit and motivation for them to use the opportunities they got to achieve their goals. There is no consumptive behavior of Bidikmisi scholarship recipients, and there are no signs that indicate a negative impact from the Bidikmisi scholarship. All respondents stated that they make good use of Bidikmisi scholarship funds based on their needs. Keywords: government aid, poor, Bidikmisi Scholarship |
