Abstrak This study aimed to describe critical thinking abilitiesofstudentsin Thermochemistry atgrade XI of high school in Palu. This studywas descriptive quantitative. The data of critical thinking abilitieswerecollected from the test. Furthermore, the data collectionwas analyzed based on indicators of critical thinking abilitieswhich included interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation. The results showed that the critical thinking abilitiesof students of grade XI at SMAN 5 Palu was average 32% obtained from the percentage of consecutives indicators of 17%interpretation, 54% analysis, 30%inference and 27%evaluation. The critical thinking abilitiesof students of grade XI atSMAN 2 Palu was average 31,8% obtained from the percentage of consecutives indicators of8.34%interpretation, 47.5% analysis, 36.5%inference and 35%evaluation. The critical thinking abilitiesof students of grade XI at SMA Karuna Dipa Palu was avirage 45% obtained from the percentage of consecutives indicators of 15%interpretation, 62.5%analysis, 55.5%inference and 47%evaluation. Based on the results of those three schools, it can be found that the critical thinking abilitiesof students ofgrade XI at high schools in Palu are still low.
