Abstrak
Waste from the processing of sago plants that often found in the sago stem bark. This sago stem bark contains cellulose so that it was suspected that it can be used as charcoal briquettes as fuel. This study aimed to determine the physical quality and the best concentration of sago starch adhesives used to obtain briquette charcoal from sago stem bark. The variation of adhesive concentration used was 5%, 10% and 15%. This study was conducted through three main stages, namely preparation, manufacture of sago bark briquette charcoal using sago flour adhesive and characterization of sago bark briquette charcoal briquettes. Physical qualities-analyzed were water content, density, heating value, compressive strength, combustion power, and length of time for the charcoal briquette to burn. The results showed that the best concentration of sago flour adhesive material used in the manufacture of sago bark briquette charcoal is briquette charcoal with a 10?hesive concentration with a moisture content of 7,564%, a heating value of 6732,088 cal/g, density 0,401 g/cm3, compressive strength 23,998 kg/cm2, combustion power (boil water with a volume of 1 Liter) 19 minutes, and long flame 1 hour 12 minutes/±150 g.
