Abstrak
This study aims to analyze students' problem-solving abilities in solving HOTS-based physics problems (higher order thinking skills). The research subjects consisted of 16 students and 6 respondents were selected by grouping the respondents into 3 categories, namely high, medium and low. Results were obtained through HOTS problem solving tests and interviews. Research results were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative approach. The results showed that from the results of the analysis of the ability to solve HOTS questions on Straight Motion, the students were quite adequate, this was shown by the average score of 16 students of 38.28% and the standard deviation of 7.78. Of the problems regarding the rectilinear motion given, no student has reached all stages of solving problems that require HOTS. High category problem solving ability is already able to understand the problem and plan a problem solving, but not yet fully able to carry out the plan and check again. Problem solving abilities in the moderate category are already able to understand the problem and plan problem solving, but have not been able to carry out the plan and check again. Problem solving abilities are in the low category at the stage of understanding the problem students have not been able to understand the problem, have not been able to make a problem solving plan, have not been able to carry out the plan and have not re-examined the settlement that was carried out. Keywords: Problem Solving, HOTS.
