| Abstrak This research is a qualitative study which aims to obtain a description of the errors of students class IXA of MTs Negeri 4 Palu in solving story problems based on Newman on the circumference and area of the circle. The data collected by using of test and interview methods. The research subject consisted of 1 student who made more mistakes than other students, the errors varied, could communicate well and received recommendations from the mathematics teacher at MTs Negeri 4 Palu. The results showed that the students' mistakes at MTs Negeri 4 Palu in solving the story questions about the circumference and area of the circle were based on Newman Stagethat is: (1) the error in reading comprehe nsion, namely the student incorrectly writing the information that was known from the problem of the story about the material around the circumference and the area of the circle where the student wrote ? = 35 cm which should have been r = 35 cm, (2) the error in the transformation of the question made by the student was that the student did not write the formula the area of the circle or the error in writing the formula used to solve the problem of the story about the material around the circle and the area of the circle (3) errors in the process skills made by students, namely errors in the calculation process and not knowing the procedures or steps to be used to solve the story problems (4) thefinal answer error the student is writing the wrong final answer according to what the question wants Keywords: Error analysis, circle, story matter, error based on the Newman stage |
