Abstrak
ABSTRAC Forest onions (Eleutherine bulbose (Mill) Urb.) contain secondary metabolite compounds, namely alkaloids, glycosides, steroid flavanoids and tannins which are sources of biopharmaceuticals that have the potential to be developed as modern medicinal plants in human life. This study aims to find differences in the antibacterial properties of forest onion extract against the growth of bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. As well as its use as a learning medium. Extraction is carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Testing of antibacterial activity is carried out using the well diffusion method. This study used five concentrations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The results showed that there were differences in the antibacterial properties of forest onion extract against the growth of bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. The average value of the inhibitory zone in the bacterium Escherichia coli is 18.97 mm and in the bacterium Salmonella sp. 18.65 mm.
