| Abstrak ABSTRACT Mutia Mutmainnah, 2026. “Enhancing Students’ Speaking Skill through Digital Storytelling at Ninth Grade in SMPN 1 Menui”. Thesis, English Education Study Program, Postgraduate, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, Under the Supervision of Sriati Usman and Mukrim This study examined the effectiveness of digital storytelling in improving the speaking skills of ninth-grade EFL students at SMP Negeri 1 Menui, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart cyclical model, implemented in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. Twenty students participated in the study. Data were collected through individual speaking tests assessed using a four-component rubric (fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary), observation checklists, and field notes. Initial diagnostic results showed that 90% of students performed below the minimum competency standard. In Cycle I, the mean score improved to 75.93, with 70% of students achieving the minimum passing score (?70). After revising instructional strategies in Cycle II such as increasing learner autonomy in selecting topics and groups, providing structured vocabulary scaffolding, and conducting guided oral rehearsals all students (100%) achieved mean score 86,56. The findings indicate that digital storytelling within a Project-Based Learning framework effectively enhances students’ oral communicative competence in the junior secondary EFL context.
