| Abstrak Rizky Rahayu, A.12224018. Boosting Listening Comprehension of the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 3 Bungku through the use of Song Lyrics, under the supervision of Aminah and Rofiqoh. The objective of this research is to investigate the process of implementing the use of song lyrics in boost listening comprehension and to find out whether the use of song lyrics improves the listening comprehension of the eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Bungku. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, following the model proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart, which consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting stages. This study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four meetings, including one meeting for Listening Comprehension Test. The participants in this study were 20 eighth-grade students during the 2025/2026 academic year. The data were collected through listening comprehension tests, observation sheets, and field notes. The listening tests were designed to measure students’ ability in identifying main ideas, recognizing specific details, and making inferences from song lyrics. Meanwhile, observation sheets were used to evaluate students’ participation and engagement during the learning process. The results of Cycle 1 showed that the students’ average score was 69.55. This result did not reach the 75% classical mastery target. Observation sheets were used to evaluate student participation and engagement during the learning process. Therefore, improvements were implemented in Cycle 2, including teaching introductory vocabulary, providing clearer audio materials, and implementing more structured listening strategies so that in Cycle 2 the average score increased to 78.2. The findings indicate that the use of song lyrics effectively improved students' listening comprehension, increased their motivation, and increased their participation in class. Therefore, it is concluded the using song lyrics into listening instruction can significantly boost students’ listening comprehension skills, particularly in identifying main ideas, specific details, and making inferences.
