Abstrak
This classroom action research aims to improve students’ writing skills in procedure text and learning motivation through PjBL digital tools-based. This study was conducted in class IX B consisting of 23 students at SMPN 1 Bungku Timur and implemented in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data were collected through writing tests, observation checklists, and observation learning motivation sheet. Students’ writing skills were assessed based on three aspects, organization, language use, and mechanics. The results indicated progressive improvement in students ‘writing performance. In cycle 1, the overall mean score was 85.8 with a classical mastery rate of 90.9%, although the mechanics aspect showed the lowest achievement with a mean score of 2.65. After the instructional refinement in cycle 2, the writing achievement improved more evenly, with the overall mean score increasing to 92.0 and classical mastery rate rising to 95.6%. The most significant improvement occurred in the mechanics aspect, which increased to 3.26 and exceeded the minimum learning objective achievement criteria. Furthermore, the observation checklist results showed that PjBL activities were effectively implemented in cycle 1 and further strengthen in cycle 2. In addition, the observation learning motivation also indicated that students consistently demonstrated high level of attention, participation and volunteering during the learning activities. The highest achievement was observed in participation, which reached 100%, followed by attention and volunteering, both reaching 92%, with the overall learning motivation being categorized as high, reaching 94.5% in the final meeting. In conclusion, the finding reveals that PjBL digital tools -based is able to improve students’ writing skills and learning motivation in EFL classroom.
