| Abstrak This research describes how a Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) intervention can develop speaking skills of the ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 02 Lariang. It was aimed at overcoming the persistent issues with students' speaking competence. By using Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, this research needs both quantitative and qualitative data. This implementation took place two cycles. The processes were: 1) a planning stage to design the learning scenarios; 2) an action stage to execute the plans in the classroom; 3) an observation stage to gather data on student performance and behavior; and 4) a reflection stage to analyze the findings and plan the next cycle. The instruments used were speaking test, observation and interview. Speaking test measured students' speaking skills, while observations and interviews provided insights into their engagement and attitudes. The intervention applied MALL approach which utilized mobile applications as like google translate, audio-video recorder, CapCut, and social media platforms as like YouTube and TikTok as the tools in learning, and for making them enjoy the learning activity. The findings showed a notable development in students' speaking skills. The mean score increased from 64.31 in cycle 1, to be 71.94 in cycle 2, and it achieved the Criteria of Succes (CoS) of 70. Meanwhile, this quantitative gain was also supported by the findings on the qualitative data, which revealed a substantial increase in student engagement, confidence, and motivation. Thus, the implementation of MALL effectively transformed students into more active, making the learning process more relevant and enjoyable. In conclusion, this research demonstrates that MALL intervention is an effective strategy for developing speaking skill and positive learning attitudes as well.
