This thesis is entitled Exploring Students' Difficulties in Learning Listening Comprehension (A Study at The Second Semester of English Education Department of Tadulako University). Postgraduate English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University under the guidance of Sudarkam R. Mertosono and Abdul Kamaruddin. The purpose of this study was to determine the difficulties encounted by students in learning listening comprehension and identify the specific causes. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied, with subjects selected using purposive sampling to ensure they met the research criteria. The research subjects in this study were second semester students of English education. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews to gather insights into students' difficulties and the specific causes. The findings reveals that the main difficulties faced by students include Active Engagement, Fast Speech and Accent Variation, Vocabulary Gaps, Lack of Context, Ineffective Note-Taking, Overreliance on Visual Cues, Fear of Mistakes, Cultural and Sociolinguistic Differences, Insufficient Practice, Technogical Disctractions. The specific causes of these difficulties were categorized into two main factors: internal and external. Internal factors are factors that come from within a person or a individual themselve, which is usually this factor in the form of attitudes as well as traits inherent in a person. External factors are factors from the outside of a person or individual. This factor covers the surrounding environment including the closed people. The implications of this research suggest that enhancing students' listening skill requires regular practice, exposure to varied speech patterns, and improve vocabulary learning.
