| Abstrak ABSTRACT Mundiara, A122 22 022. Increasing Vocabulary of Grade VIII Students at SMP Negeri Satu Atap 2 Tinombo Selatan through Visual Media. Under supervisor: Mawardin M.Said and H. Mochtar Mahrum. This Thesis described the increase of the student’s vocabulary through Visual Media. The research question is “Can Visual Media be applied to increase vocabulary of the students? The main objective of conducting this research is to determine whether visual media effectively increases students’ vocabulary of grade VIII at SMPN Satu Atap 2 Tinombo Selatan. This research employed (CAR) classroom action research with two Cycles namely: the first cycle and second cycle, each cycle consists of four steps, namely: planning, acting, observation, and reflection. In collecting data, the researcher used the observation sheets and vocabulary tests in evaluation. Visual media is an effective way to increase the student’s vocabulary. It is supported by achieving an ideal mean score in cycle II, which was 85. It is different in cycle I that just 52.04. Students’ participation in the first cycle was low only 1 student’ was enthusiastic about the learning process, but in the second cycle students' participation increased. There was 22 students enthusiastic when learning the process. So, it indicates that implementing Visual media in teaching learning effectively solved the students’ vocabulary problem. keywords: Increasing, Vocabulary, Visual Media |
