Abstrak
Marwiyah, A 122 21019 Teaching Writing Procedure Text Through Pictures to Grade IXB Students at MTs Negeri 4 Kota Palu. Under the supervision of Mawardin M. Said and Mukrim. This research was conducted at MTs Negeri 4 Palu. The subjects were 28 students of grade IXB, academic year 2023/2024. The research aims is to explore how to use picture as media in teaching writing and to analyze students’ response. The research employed CAR (Classroom Action Research) design implemented in spiral model which covered planning, acting, observing, and reflecting that consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four meetings included the test. The researcher gave a test tofind out individual achievement of each student. The data were obtainedfrom observation checklist, field notes, and test. Criterion of success in this research is 80% of the students should get score at least 75 individually. The result of cycle 1 was 57% or 16 students were successful with the meanscore 73, and 43% or 12 studentsfailed. Since the students did not meet the criteria, the researcher moved on the cycle 2. After improving the weakness of teaching and learning activities in cycle 1, the result increased to 85% or 24 students were successfully with the meanscore 81, and 15% or 4 studentsfailed in cycle 2. It rose 38% compared to cycle 1. Thus, it is proved that using pictures which was conducted succesful in improving students’ability in two cyckles writing procedure text.
