Abstrak
ABSTRACT The objectives of this research are to identify the EFL-teachers’ strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic and to know the way how the teachers apply the teaching strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted through qualitative approach. The data of this research were taken from five EFL teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Sigi, SMK Negeri 1 Sigi and SMA IT Qurrota A’yun Sigi. In collecting the data of this research, the researcher used observation, interview and documentation. Interview was used as the main instrument of this research. The Interview was in the form of questions and it included ten numbers of questions. The researcher used personal interview in which in-depth semistructured interview as the instrument to collect the data from the teachers. The interview was focused on teacher individual, the researcher interviewed one by one the EFL teachers. Then, after the data obtained, it was concluded that the general perception of the teachers is that the implementation of online learning class during the COVID-19 pandemic is inefficient. Additionally, it is found based on the interview that the teachers did not explain the material to the students in detail due to the limited time in online learning process. The teachers think that the learning process in pandemic era need the special strategies. Moreover, there are three major strategies that the EFL teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Sigi, SMK Negeri 1 Sigi and SMA IT Qurrota A’yun Sigi applied. They are: Direct Instruction Teaching Strategy, Cooperative learning strategy and Interactive teaching strategy. These strategies the teachers applied are related to the online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. Key terms: Teaching Strategies, Online Learning, Pandemic. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi strategi guru bahasa inggris selama pandemi COVID-19 dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru menerapkan strategi mengajar selama pandemi COVID-19. Selain itu, penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Data penelitian ini diambil dari lima guru bahasa inggris SMP Negeri 1 Sigi, SMK Negeri 1 Sigi dan SMA IT Qurrota A’yun Sigi. Dalam pengumpulan data penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Wawancara digunakan sebagai instrumen utama penelitian ini. Instrumen wawancara berupa pertanyaan dan terdiri dari sepuluh nomor pertanyaan. Peneliti menggunakan wawancara pribadi di mana wawancara semi-terstruktur mendalam sebagai instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data dari guru. Wawancara difokuskan pada individu guru, peneliti mewawancarai satu per satu guru bahasa inggris. Kemudian, setelah menganalisis data yang diperoleh, disimpulkan bahwa persepsi umum para guru adalah bahwa pelaksanaan kelas online selama pandemi COVID-19 tidak efisien. Selain itu, berdasarkan wawancara ditemukan bahwa guru tidak menjelaskan materi kepada siswa secara detail karena keterbatasan waktu dalam proses pembelajaran online. Para guru menganggap proses pembelajaran di era pandemi tidak efektif. Selain itu, ada dua strategi utama yang diterapkan oleh guru bahasa inggris SMP Negeri 1 Sigi, SMK Negeri 1 Sigi dan SMA IT Qurrota A'yun Sigi. Yaitu: Strategi Pengajaran Instruksi Langsung, Strategi Pembelajaran Kooperatif dan Strategi Pengajaran Interaktif. Strategi yang diterapkan para guru tersebut terkait dengan pembelajaran online di masa pandemi covid-19. Istilah kunci: Strategi Pengajaran, Pembelajaran Online, Pandemi.
