Under the supervision of Dr. Darmawan, S.Pd., M.Phil., and Wahyudin, S.Pd., M.Pd. This research aims to explore the reading strategies employed by sixth-semester students of the English Education Study Program at Tadulako University in comprehending academic texts and to evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in overcoming reading difficulties. The research applied a descriptive quantitative design with 21 students selected through purposive sampling as the respondents. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of ten reading strategies and analyzed through descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that the most frequently used strategies include rereading difficult parts, using a dictionary, summarizing content, scanning for specific information, and discussing with peers. Meanwhile, global strategies such as skimming and structured note-taking were less frequently applied. These results indicate that students tend to rely more on problem-solving and support strategies rather than global strategies. In conclusion, although the students already employ several effective strategies, they still need to develop a wider range of reading strategies to enhance efficiency and comprehension of academic texts.
