MELISA MUHAMMAD YUNUS(A12122221) A Qualitative Study on Factors Contributing Student Anxiety During Classroom Presentation. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the Supervisor of Dr. Darmawan, S.Pd., M.Phil., and Wahyuddin S.Pd., M.Pd. Classroom presentations are widely recognized as an essential part of academic learning, yet many students experience significant anxiety when required to perform in front of their peers. This study aims to explore the factors contributing to student anxiety during classroom presentations. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations involving sixth-semester English education students at Tadulako University. Thematic analysis revealed several interrelated factors influencing student anxiety. These include psychological aspects such as lack of self-confidence and fear of making mistakes, linguistic challenges such as limited vocabulary and pronunciation difficulties, as well as social pressures including peer judgment and teacher expectations. In addition, inadequate preparation and unfamiliarity with presentation strategies were also identified as significant contributors. The findings suggest that student anxiety is a complex phenomenon shaped by both internal and external factors. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to create a supportive classroom environment, provide constructive feedback, and integrate strategies to reduce speaking anxiety. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how anxiety affects students’ academic performance and offers implications for improving teaching practices in higher education.
