Yuni Hertiwi, 2026. “Students’ Perceptions on Learning English Through CNN Channels: A Focus on Speaking in the Listening for Information and Leisure Course”. Skripsi. English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Mashuri (1) Sukmawati Sadilia (2). This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of learning English through CNN news videos, focusing on speaking development in the Listening for Information and Leisure course at Tadulako University. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving 25 students through questionnaires and three participants through interviews. The findings indicate that students have positive perceptions of CNN videos as authentic learning materials. The videos help improve vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking fluency, and confidence, while also increasing motivation and classroom participation. Although challenges such as fast speech and difficult vocabulary were identified, these difficulties can be reduced through teacher guidance and clear explanations. Overall, CNN news videos are effective in supporting speaking development in the EFL classroom. Keywords: students’ perceptions; CNN news videos; speaking skills; authentic materials; EFL classroom
