| Abstrak This study aims to identify the type of proform that is most difficult for students to apply in substituting constituents within sentences, as well as to analyze the factors that influence their comprehension in using proforms. The research focused on 30 fifth-semester students from Class E of the English Education Study Program at Tadulako University, who were selected through purposive sampling. Employing a descriptive quantitative method with statistical analysis, the data were collected through written test and a questionnaire. The findings revealed that ProNP was the most difficult type of proform to apply, particularly in the subject category, followed by ProPP in prepositional phrases of place, while ProAP was identified as the easiest type. In addition, internal factors namely cognitive ability, prior knowledge, motivation, and learning strategies, were found to be the most influential aspects affecting students’ success in understanding and applying proforms. |
