Abstrak
Bellatri Azzahra (A 121 21 236). The Implementation of Picture Series to Improve Students’ Skills in Writing Procedure Texts. A Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hj. Sriati Usman, M. Hum and Andi Patmasari, S.Pd., M.Pd. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the use of picture series can improve the writing skills of the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Palasa or not. This research applied a pre-experimental research design. The sample was selected by using total sample, they were 20 students of SMP Negeri 1 Palasa. This research was conducted in six meetings which included pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data were collected by using writing test administered twice as pre-test and post-test. The finding showed that the mean score of pre-test was 60.12 while the mean score of post-test was 68.00. The results of data analysis revealed that the value of the t-counted (3.44) was higher than the value of the t-table (2.36) by applying a significant level of 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df) 20 (n-1). It means that the hypothesis is received. In indicates that the effect of using picture series is significant. In addition, the implication of this finding is can be concluded that using picture series was effective to teach writing procedure text because picture series can helped to practice raise their new ideas and it helps for the teachers share the materials related to the lesson. It can provide more detailed information about objects in the content. In addition, it can develop imagination by picture series related to the materials.
