Abstrak
ABSTRACT Nadia Rahma (A12121228). This thesis, entitled “Using Guided Reading Strategy (GRS) to Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension at SMP Negeri Model Terpadu Madani”, was written under the supervision of Mashuri and Agussatriana. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Guided Reading Strategy (GRS) in improving the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri Model Terpadu Madani. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two purposively selected groups: an experimental group (Raden Saleh class) and a control group (Gajah Mada class). Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, and analyzed using SPSS version 27 through Levene’s Test, Shapiro–Wilk Test, and the Mann–Whitney U Test. The results revealed that the mean post-test score of the experimental group (78.31) was higher than that of the control group (65.06). The Mann–Whitney U test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0 xss=removed> 0.05) confirmed that the data were homogeneous. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Guided Reading Strategy (GRS) effectively improved students’ reading comprehension, particularly in understanding definition exposition texts.
