Abstrak ABSTRACT Magfirah (A12121210). This skripsi entitled “The Implementation of Self-Assessment in Teaching Grammar”, under the supervision of Nur Sehang Thamrin and Maf’ulah. This study examines the influence of self-assessment on grammar proficiency, particularly with subject-verb agreement, which is a common challenge for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This study employed a quasi-experimental design, with 35 third-semester English Language Education students at a public university in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, who were categorized into an experimental group (n=17) and a control group (n=18). The experimental group received self-assessment (SA) assistance during grammar lessons, while the control group followed the conventional method. Data were collected through a test administered before and after the grammar instruction. The data were analyzed using inferential statistics, including an independent sample t-test. The findings revealed that the experimental group's learning achievement outperforms its counterpart, with the mean post-test scores of 57.11 and 43.80 respectively. It indicates that the implementation of self-assessment is an effective strategy for improving grammar skills, especially in teaching subject-verb agreement, offering valuable insights for educators seeking innovative approaches to enhance English language teaching.
