Abstrak
This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Bits and Pieces Game technique in improving the writing skills of the eighth-grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah Al-Haq Palu. The study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 25 students participated as the sample of this research. The data were collected through a writing test administered before and after the treatment. The treatment consisted of six meetings where students learned to write descriptive texts using the Bits and Pieces Game. The results showed a significant improvement in the students’ writing skills. The mean score increased from 61.7 in the pretest to 84.8 in the posttest. Statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test revealed that the improvement was significant (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the Bits and Pieces Game is an effective technique to enhance students’ writing skills, particularly in content development, vocabulary use, grammatical accuracy, and text organization. Therefore, it is recommended for English teachers to adopt this game-based strategy to create a more engaging and effective writing classroom environment.
