Abstrak
I Made Gayus Andy Reifandy A12121127 2025 “ Using know, what, learn (KWL) strategy to improve reading comprehension of eighth grade students at SMP Swastyastu Tolai". Skripsi. English Education Study Program FKIP Tadulako University, The supervisior of Mukrim and Wahyudin. This research focuses on knowing whether KWL strategy can improve students' reading comprehension, especially VIII grade students at SMP Swastyastu Tolai, this research was conducted after direct observation by interviewing teachers and students of SMP Swastyastu Tolai, where students have difficulty in learning reading comprehension. This study used a quasi-experimental method where researcher used two classes to get the results of the study, the class was class VIIA as an experimental class with 23 students, and class VIIB as a control class with 18 students, so the total population was 41 people. This research instrument is a test, which has been given two tests, namely the Pre-test and post-test. After using the KWL strategy, the test results of the students became more improved in learning reading comprehension, which can be seen from the research results which show that the t-count score of 1.974 is greater than the t-table of 1.687 which indicates that this hypothesis is accepted and the KWL strategy is effectively used to improve the reading comprehension of class VIII students at SMP Swastystu Tolai. So from the result of the research, it answers that Know, What, Learn (KWL) strategy can improve the reading comprehension of eighth grade students at SMP Swastyastu Tolai. Therefore, it is suggested that KWL strategy can be used to improve students' reading comprehension. Keywords: KWL strategy, Know-What-Learn, learning, reading comprehension.
