Nur Rahmi S. Madanun, A 121 21 035. “A Morphological Analysis of Verb Inflection in Sentences Made by EFL Students at Tadulako University”, a skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Mochtar Marhum and Siska Bochari. The objective of this research is to investigate the most challenging verb markings for EFL students at Tadulako University to use in their sentences and the difficulty factors faced by them in using the markings in their sentences, focusing on both regular (the use of suffixation such as suffix -ed, -s, -ing, and -en) and irregular verbs (ablaut, suppletion, and zero modification) in tenses and aspect. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through tests and questionnaires from samples of 148 third-semester students. The analysis reveals that verb marking, especially the suffix “-en” involving tense and aspect, is more challenging for EFL students. Additionally, seven factors influencing verb marking use were identified: vocabulary limitation, fear of making mistakes, low motivation, teaching methods and teaching quality, lack of practice, class environment, and peer influence. These findings underscore the critical role of morphological competence in the accurate use of verb markings among EFL students. Strengthening students’ morphological awareness, particularly in understanding regular and irregular verb forms within different tenses and aspects, is essential for improving their sentence construction abilities and fostering higher overall linguistic proficiency. Key Words: Morphology, Inflection, Ablaut, Suppletion, Zero Modification, Verb
