Improving Reading Comprehension of the Grade Eight Students at SMP Negeri 2 Lore Tengah Through Start with a Simple Stories Extensive Reading Method, Thesis, English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under supervision of Aminah and Maf’ulah. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of the Simple Stories Extensive Reading method in improving students' reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 2 Lore Tengah. Grade VIII students participated in this study. One class was involved in this pre-experimental research design, and the sample was selected through random sampling. The researchers used pretest and posttest to collected the data. Furthermore, SPSS version 28 was used to analyze the results. The results showed that the mean score on the pretest was 29.95, which significantly increased to 80.67 on the posttest. In addition, the significance value (2 tailed) (p = 0.001) was lower than the alpha level (0.05), which indicated that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the Simple Story Extensive Reading method was proven to be an effective strategy to improve the reading comprehension of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Lore Tengah.
