Abstrak The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) method can develop the reading comprehension of ninth grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Palu. This study applied pre-experimental research design. The population in this study were ninth grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Palu. The sample of this study was grade IX C which amounted to 31 students. The techniques used for data collection were pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed statistically. The results of data analysis showed that the t-count value (5.26) was higher than the t-table value (1.697) by applying a significance level of 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df)31(n-1). This proves that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition method can develop the reading comprehension skills of IX C students at SMP Negeri 2 Palu. |
