Abstrak Malfa Safitri, 2025. The Use of TikTok Social Media to Increase Vocabulary of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 5 Sirenja. Thesis. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Arts, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the guidance of Mukrim and Zarkiani Hasyim. This study aims to determine whether the use of Tiktok Social Media can increase the vocabulary of 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Sirenja. This study used a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Sirenja, and the sample was selected using cluster sampling technique. The sample consisted of class VIII A as the experimental group with 25 students and class VIII B as the control group with 25 students. Data were collected using tests which were divided into pre-test in the experimental class (52.80) while the pretest in the control class (46.60) and post-test in the experimental class (84.00) while the post-test in the control class (68.60). The results of the data in both classes were statistically analyzed using the t-test with a degree of freedom (df) of 48 and a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the calculated t value (3.22) was greater than the t table value (1.679) which meant that the research hypothesis was accepted. Thus, this study concludes that Tiktok social media and conventional media can increase the vocabulary of 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Sirenja.
