| Abstrak ABSTRACT Wirdayanti (A 121 20 142). This skripsi entitled Improving Reading Comprehension of Grade VIII Students through Random Text Strategy at SMP Negeri 19 Palu, Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Under the supervision of Mawardin M. Said and Budi. The objective of this study was to determine whether the Random Text Strategy could improve the reading comprehension of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. The researcher applied a pre-experimental research design and used purposive sampling to select the sample. The sample consisted of 30 grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. Data collection was conducted using pretest and posttest assessments. The pretest was administered to measure the students' initial knowledge, while the posttest was given to measure the improvement in their reading comprehension after the treatment. The average pretest score was 32.8, while the average posttest score was 56.93. Using a significance level of 0.05, the researcher found that the calculated t-value (10.27) was higher than the t-table value (2.045). The conclusion is that the Random Text Strategy can improve the reading comprehension of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. Key Terms: Improving, Reading Comprehension, Strategy Random Text |
