Abstrak
ABSTRACT Windi Apriananda (A121 20 126) “The Use of Missing Lyrics of English Song to Improve Listening Skill of Grade Eleven Students of SMA Negeri 1 Torue”. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, under the Supervision of Abd. Kamaruddin and Maf’ulah. This research aims to discover whether using missing lyrics of English song technique can improve the listening skill of the grade eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Torue. This research implemented quasi experimental design. The population is 334 students. The sample is 70 students of classes XI P1 and XI P3A which were selected by employing cluster random sampling technique. To collect the data, the test which was divided into pretest and posttest were used as the research instrument. The data were analysed using SPSS 30. The findings revealed that students’ listening skill improve after getting the treatment. Based on the calculation, the mean score of experimental class in pretest are (55.79) and in posttest are (70.00) is higher than the mean score of control class in pretest (54.87) and in posttest (69.22). It is also supported by data analysis using independent sample t-test, it showed that the t-test (sig.) is lower than the chosen alpha level (0.000 < 0.05). It indicates that the alternative hypothesis is accepted which means using missing lyrics of English song media effectively improves students listening skill of grade eleven of SMA Negeri 1 Torue.
