Abstrak
Desti Sri Wahyuni (A 121 20 046). “Improving Writing Skill Of The Tenth Grade Students Of SMA Negeri 7 Palu By Using Guided Questions Technique”. Skripsi. English Education study program, Language and Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, under the supervision of Jamiluddin and Afrillia Anggreni. The research aims to find out whether or not Guided Questions Technique can improve the writing skill of the tenth grade students’ of SMA Negeri 7 Palu. This research sample was 70 students, divided into two group of 35 students of class X3 as the experimental class and 35 students of class X7 as the control class. The data were collected through the writing test that consisting of the pre-test and post-test. After conducting the treatment, the data indicates that the experimental class showed improvement in their writing skill compared to the control class. By applying 68 degree of freedom (df) and 0.05 level of significance, it can be seen that the t-counted (2.77) is higher than the t-table (1.669). It means that the hypothesis is accepted or Using Guided Questions Technique can improve writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Palu. These findings have implications for students. The implication of this research can be found in four components that the students used in learning process during the treatment. First, in content the students wrote the text more longer because this technique has some questions that have been arranged. Second, in vocabulary the students’ improvement can be found in the selection and arrangement of words into sentences. Third, in organization, the students constructed their ideas sequentially based on the generic structure. Fourth, in mechanic the students’ improvement can be found in term of capitalization and punctuation. Keywords: Guided Questions Technique, Writing skill, Descriptive text.
