Abstrak The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the POSSE (Predict, Organize, Search, Summarize, and Evaluate) Strategy can develop students’ reading comprehension. This research was conducted in the SMP Negeri 1 Toribulu. The population of this research was the eighth grade students which consisted 64 students. The research used quantitative research, particularly in Quasi-Experimental Design. The researcher used cluster random sampling to take the sample. The instrument to collect the data was test items consisted of 15 multiple choice and 5 essay test. There were pre-test and post-test in both of groups, furthermore, there were treatment in the experimental group while the control group was not. The results showed the students mean score of the experimental group (55.64) on the posttest was higher than the score from the control group (31.24) on the posttest. Based on the results of statistically, the sig value is obtained. (2 tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the mean score student learning outcomes between the learning model using the POSSE strategy and the usual method taught by the teacher.
