| Abstrak Abd Malik Fajri (A 121 19 224 ) “Analysis of Silent Letter Errors in Pronunciation Commited by The First Semester Students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University” .Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervisor of Mukrim and Maf’ulah. The research aims to identify common silent letter pronunciation errors among first-semester English education students at Tadulako University and analyze these errors using Interlanguage theory. It used a descriptive quantitative method focusing on student errors in pronouncing words with silent letters, involving 24 students from a total of 239 in the English education program for the 2023/2024 academic year. The study employed a testing method to gather valid data on student pronunciation. The results indicate students may use simplification strategies when facing unfamiliar consonant clusters, showcasing their efforts in navigating English pronunciation within their developing interlanguage. These findings emphasize the significance of understanding interlanguage development in addressing pronunciation challenges. Educators, by recognizing error causes, can design targeted instruction bridging the gap between students' interlanguage and accurate pronunciation. |
