Abstrak
This research aims to find out whether or not using Shadowing Technique is effective to improve the ability of students listening skill of grade eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu. The problem was that they were lack of vocabulary and they were not familiar with the words they were listening to due to dialect differences. This study applied quasi-experimental research in terms of intact group design, which used two groups as a sample of the research, which are experimental group and control group. The sample for this research was selected by a cluster random sampling technique. The instrument of this research was a test which was given to the research sample as pre-test and post-test. After analyzing the data, the result of data analysis shows that there is significant difference between post-test results of experimental and control groups. The result of data showed that the t-counted value (6.76) was greater than the t-table value (1.671) by applying 0.05 level of significance and 31+30-2 degree of freedom (df). It means using Shadowing Technique was effective in improving the students’ listening skill of grade eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu.
