Abstrak
ABSTRACT Sunarti, (A12119147). The Use of Dictogloss Technique to Improve Listening Skill of the Tenth Grade Students of SMK Negeri 1 Dampal Selatan. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, Under the Supervision of Abdul Kamaruddin and Budi. The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of Dictogloss technique can improve listening skill of the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Dampal Selatan. The research used pre-experimental research design that involved one group as the experimental group. The sample of this research was class X TKJ with 26 students as the experimental group selected. The instruments of data collection were tests, they were pre-test and post-test. The experimental group was given treatment by using Dictogloss technique. The researcher gave the treatment to the group during six meeting using dictogloss technique, where the process was like; first, the students got some vocabulary preview about the text. Second, students got the dictation while they write down the words that they got from the dictation activities. After that, students worked together to reconstruct the text based on the words they got and did the exercises. After several meeting passed the students made the improvements in listening skill especially in recognizing words and getting the information. The result of data analysis showed that there was a significant improvement of the students after got treatment. By using dictogloss students can learn step by step from their teacher’s voice to the native’s voice, this absolutely enables the chance of the students’ to always improve their skill without being forced to learn something not familiar with. Based on these results, it can be conculde that Dictogloss technique is effective to improve listening skill of tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Dampal Sealatan and it can be applied by the teachers in teaching and learning process.
