| Abstrak This research aims to find out the effect of Problem Solving Strategy toward students' speaking skill at SMAN 1 Tinombo Selatan. The kind of this research is Quasi-experimental research. The sample are divided into two classes are: experimental group consist of 28 students and control group consist of 34 students. They are chosen by using Cluster Random sampling technique. The method is non-equivalent control group design. The technique of data collection using pre-test and post-test. The instrument to get students' score by oral test in the form of speaking test. Then the data is obtained by using t-test formula. The data analyzed through inferential statistic, it shows that value of t-test 4.95 was higher than t-table 1.67 with significant level is 0.05. In addition, the mean score of experimental group increased from pretest (43.93) to post test (69.64) with score of deviation 25.71 and control group also increased from pretest (47.65) to post test (52.65) with score of deviation 5.00. It can be concluded that the use of Problem Solving strategy can improve the students speaking skill at SMAN 1 Tinombo Selatan or there is significance improvement in speaking skill after taught problem solving strategy.
