Abstrak Sri Sakina Wulandari (A 121 19 119). This Skripsi entitled Teaching Vocabulary Mastery by Using Flashcard of The Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. It was under the supervision of Nadrun and Afrillia Anggreni. The objective of this research is to find out whether flashcard is effective in teaching vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu or not. The researcher applied pre- experimental research design. The population of this research was VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu and the sample was VIII A of 27 students. The researcher employed purposive sampling and adopted one group pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was used to measure the student vocabulary mastery before the treatment and the post-test was used to measure the students’ vocabulary mastery after the treatment. The data analysis indicates that there was a significant improvement between the result of pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the students before the treatment was (48.15). After giving the treatment, the mean score of the students in post-test was (77.16). It is also shown that the tcounted value was (10.74) higher than the ttable value was (1.698). It means that the use of flashcard media is effective in teaching vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Palu. The implication of applying flashcard in teaching vocabulary is that flashcard are able to attract students’ attention and help students remember vocabulary. |
