| Abstrak Nur Syaria Putri (A 121 19 099). This Skripsi is entitled Improving Reading Comprehension of Grade Eight Students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu through Team Word Webbing. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Rofiqoh and Anjar Kususma Dewi. The objective of this research is to prove whether Team Word Webbing can improve reading comprehension of the grade eight students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu. This research applied pre-experimental research design. The population of this research was 105 grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu and The sample was 25 students of class VIII D. The research instrument was a test. The test was distributed twice, as a pre-test and post-test. The data from the test were analyzed statistically. The mean scores of the pre test was 34.13 while the mean scores of the post-test was 56.18. By applying a 0.05 level of significance with the degree of freedom (df) 24 (N - 1 = 25 - 1 = 24), it was found the degree of freedom 24 = 2.064. It is shown that the tcounted value is 8.07 higher than the ttable value (2.064). It means that the use of team word webbing technique can improve reading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu. The implication of the finding to the teaching practice that the teachers need to apply in teaching reading narrative text or other texts. Key Words: Reading Comprehension and Team Word Webbing. |
