Abstrak The objective of this research was to describe the implementation of the story pyramid strategy in teaching writing and the effect of the implementation of the story pyramid strategy in teaching writing. This research used the library research method. The data sources in this study were taken from previous research in the form of scientific articles and theses between 2012 and 2022. There are seventeen previous studies related to the implementation of the story pyramid strategy in teaching writing, and ten of those studies focused on teaching narrative text. Then, seven out of the ten studies were used as secondary data. The seven previous researchers are as follows: Agustiningsih, Fardhani, & Wahjuningsih (2014); Novitaningrum & Fahri (2015); Maulidiansyah (2017); Seftiana (2017); Andriany (2018); Ningrum (2019); and Mulatsih (2019). The results showed two ways of implementing the story pyramid strategy: arranging a text based on the instructions or questions in the pyramid and summarizing a text. The story pyramid strategy implementation is effective in developing writing skills, although the implementation method is different. The implementation of the story pyramid strategy helps students organize and develop ideas, improve vocabulary mastery, think critically, and participate actively in class. The findings imply that the implementation of the story pyramid strategy is one of the effective alternative strategies in teaching writing. |
