Abstrak Tasya Putri Matilda, A12119081. “Using Group Work Discussion Strategy To Develop Reading Comprehension Of Ninth Grade Student of Smp Negeri 15 Palu”.Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Education Study Program, under Supervision of Mochtar Marhum and Anjar Kusuma Dewi. The objective of this study is to find out whether Group Work Discussion can develop reading comprehension of the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri15 Palu or not. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental with two group pre test and post test as the research design. The population of this study was ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu with consisting of 120 students. The researcher used purposive sampling and adapted two groups: ninth grade IX A and ninth grade IX B (experimental and control). The instrument of this study was a test, which was divided into two test (pre-test and post-test).The result of this study showed that there is significant differences of students’ reading comprehension after being taught through Group Work Discussion where the data analysis show that value of t-counted (3) is higher that the value of t-table (1.672) by applying a significance level of 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df) = 57. It means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, Group Work Discussion can develop reading comprehension of the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu.
