Abstrak ABSTRACT Risky Raphita .T. Siregar (A 121 19 076). Using YouTube Tutorial Videos to Improve Speaking Skills of the Grade Nine Students of Smp Negeri 6 Palu. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University under the Supervision of Mochtar Marhum and Maf’ulah. The purpose of this study is to find out the use of YouTube Tutorial Videos can improve speaking skills of the grade nine students of SMP Negeri 6 Palu. Quasi-Experimental design is a method used by the researcher with two groups; experimental and control groups. The population is class XI of SMP Negeri 6 Palu. The sample of this study is the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Palu: XI F and XI G with 31 samples of each group that selected using cluster random sampling. The instrument of this research is speaking tests which are pre-test and post-test. The tests were conducted at first and last meeting. The data processed using Mann-Whitney test by SPPS 22 version. The results of this study prove that there is a significant difference between the students' scores in the experimental class and the students' scores in the control class. The speaking ability of students in the experimental class who were taught by using YouTube video tutorials was better than students in the control class who were not taught by using YouTube video tutorials. This can be seen from the mean score of the experimental class (74.52) is higher than the mean score of the control class (57.97). In conclusion, the use of YouTube Tutorial videos can improve students' speaking skill of SMP Negeri 6 Palu. Key Words: YouTube Tutorial Videos, Speaking Skills |
