Abstrak
Syaiban Abdul Kamil, (A12119068). Using Cue Cards in Improving the Writing Skill of the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 2 Palu. Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Education Study Program, under the supervision of Rofiqoh and Muhammad Arid. The objective of this research is to prove whether cue cards as a medium can improve the writing ability of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Palu. This research employed a quasi-experimental design consisting of two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Palu, totaling of 366 students. The researcher applied a purposive sampling and selected two groups, XI (experimental) and X J (control). The techniques used for data collection were pre-test and post-test, with the treatment given only to the experimental group. This research used non-parametric analysis, specifically Mann-Whitney U-test. The data were analyzed statistically using SPSS, applying a 0.05 level of significance. The results of the research show that the pre-test p-value (0.923) is higher than a (0.05), meaning that the initial ability of both groups was not significantly different. After the treatment, the post-test p-value (<0.001) is lower than a (0.05), indicating that the result is statistically significant. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the two groups after the treatment, suggesting that the treatment had a positive effect.
