Abstrak Qorata A’yun (A 121 19 045). “The Effectiveness of Using Songs as Media to Improve Listening Comprehension of The Eleventh Grade Students at SMA Negeri 2 Sigi”. English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, under the supervision of Sriati Usman and Co-Supervisor Mashuri. The research aimed to find out whether the use of song is effective to improve listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigi. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental research design. The sample of this research was 60 students, divided into 30 students of class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group and 30 students of class XI IPA 3 as the control group. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through the test that consisted of pre-test and post-test. The pre-test result showed that the experimental group’s mean score was 41.2, while the control group’s mean score was 54.2. this demonstrated that the experimental group’s pre-test mean scores were lower than the control group. After conducting the treatment, the post-test result showed that the experimental group’s mean score was 56.1, while the control group’s mean score was 47.2. It indicated that the experimental group had improved their listening comprehension compared to the control group. By applying 58 degrees of freedom (df) and 0.05 level of significance, it can be seen that the t-counted (1.90) is higher than the t-table (1.672). It can be concluded, that the hypothesis was accepted or that using songs as media is effective to improve listening comprehension of The Eleventh Grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigi.
