Abstrak Rinia Istiqomah SR (A12119035). “The Use of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) To Develop Vocabulary of The Tenth Grade Students at SMA NEGERI 5 PALU”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Syahrul Munir and Mashuri. The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the use of picture word inductive model (PWIM) Can Develop Vocabulary of the Tenth Grade at SMA Negeri 5 Palu. This research used quasi-experimental research that consisted of two classes: experimental and control class. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Palu. The researcher selected the sample by using cluster random sampling. The sample of this research is the students of XM9 with 34 students as the experimental class, and XM1, with 34 students as the control, class. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test at the first and the last meeting. The experimental class was given treatment by using the PWIM strategy, while the control class was given treatment by using conventional techniques from the school. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The researcher found a significant difference between the results of the experimental and control classes. It was proved by applying the testing hypothesis. The researcher found that the t-counted(3.65) was higher than the t-table (2.021). It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, using the PWIM can develop vocabulary of the tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Palu. Key Words: Develop, Vocabulary, PWIM |
