Abstrak
Rahmad Rizkyanto Sabang, 2023. “The Use of Videos from YouTube as English Learning Media to Improve the Pronunciation of the Eleventh-Grade Students of MAN 2 Kota Palu”. Skripsi. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Education Study Program, under the supervision of Mukrim and the co-supervision Hj. Hastini. This research aims to determine if YouTube videos can significantly improve the pronunciation of the eleventh-grade students of MAN 2 Kota Palu. It also aims to identify the most difficult sounds to pronounce. The focus of this research is segmental features on fricative sounds such as sh/?/, zh/?/, th/?/, th/ð/, and affricative sounds such as ch/?/ and j/d?/. This researcher used a quantitative method and a quasi-experimental as the research design. The population of this research was eleventh-grade IPA students of Kota Palu consisting of 163 students. The researcher used purposive sampling and adapted two groups: eleventh-grade IPA 3 and eleventh-grade IPA 5 (experimental and control). The instrument of this research was an oral test, which was divided into two tests (pre-test and post-test). The researcher used SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 22 to analyze the data. This research concluded that videos from YouTube could improve the pronunciation of eleventh-grade students of MAN 2 Kota Palu. The mean score of the experimental group was higher than the mean score of the control group (84.77>55.88). In addition, the result of sig. (2-tailed) is lower than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted.
